Tires

Illegal in Garbage & Drains
Special Instructions

It is illegal to dispose of tires in your normal waste collection.

Leave at the Dealer
Tire dealers are well-equipped to properly dispose of tires, so when you purchase new tires, leave the old ones with the dealer.

Locate a facility that is collecting tires. (A fee may apply.)

Bicycle Tires
Similarly, bicycle tires cannot be recycled curbside, but they should not be thrown in the trash. Tire shops, auto mechanics, and bicycle repair shops may accept old tires for recycling, a fee may apply. Learn about the disposal of bike tubes.

Ways to Reduce

Make Tires Last Longer

If you care for your tires, you’ll save money because you won’t need to replace them as often. Check the tread and tire pressure monthly, keep wheels aligned, and rotate tires every 6,000 miles. You can also drive carefully to avoid potholes, debris and curbs.
