They are highly recyclable. Prep for Recycling: Empty all contents from cups Remove any paper labels Remove lids. (see below) Is The Lid Recyclable? If foil, place in trash. Most “foil” lids have a layer of plastic. If plastic, check for the resin number on lid (see below*). If the lid and container are the same plastic type, keep them together and place in the recycling. If the lid and container are made from different plastic types, place the lid in trash and the container in the recycling. The lid may be too small to recycle. Athens Services recycles plastics #1 PET bottles and clamshells, #2 HDPE, and #5 PP. *To identify your products’ plastic type, look for the resin number inside the chasing arrows, usually located on the bottom of the item. The recycling symbol does not indicate if the product is recyclable or not. Alternative Ways to Recycle Gimme 5 Program Give your plastic #5 yogurt tubs to Gimme 5, a program dedicated to offering plastic #5 recycling to areas that do not accept it. You can print out a label and send in your containers (at your own cost), or find a drop-off location close by.
